Messaging Channels Overview

AIChatVault lets you deploy your agent across three major messaging platforms: WhatsApp Business, Instagram DMs, and Facebook Messenger. The same trained agent and knowledge base powers all three — you add a channel and the agent starts replying instantly, 24/7, without any additional training.

Available messaging channels

ChannelWhat it doesWhat you need
WhatsApp BusinessAuto-replies to WhatsApp messages sent to your business phone numberMeta Business Account + WhatsApp Business API access + verified phone number
Instagram DMsAuto-replies to Instagram Direct Messages on your Professional accountInstagram Professional (Business or Creator) account linked to a Facebook Page
Facebook MessengerAuto-replies to Messenger conversations on your Facebook PageFacebook Page with admin access

How messaging channels work

Each channel connects to Meta's messaging APIs via a webhook. When a customer sends a message, Meta forwards it to AIChatVault, which searches your knowledge base and sends an AI-generated reply back through the same channel within seconds. The connection is persistent — no polling, no delays.

  • The agent replies to every inbound message automatically. There is no queue or moderation step.
  • Each channel tracks messages_received, messages_replied, reply rate, and last_message_at in its Stats tab.
  • A 14-day message volume chart and a paginated message log are available per channel.
  • All channels support two connection methods: OAuth (recommended — one click) and manual token entry (for advanced setups).
  • Disconnecting a channel immediately stops the agent from replying. Reconnecting resumes it.

Meta account prerequisites

All three channels are Meta products. Before connecting any of them, make sure you have:

  • A verified Facebook account with admin access to a Meta Business Manager.
  • For WhatsApp: a WhatsApp Business API account with a verified phone number in Meta Business Manager.
  • For Instagram: an Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator) connected to a Facebook Page in Meta Business Suite.
  • For Messenger: a Facebook Page with admin or editor access.

OAuth vs manual connection

Every messaging channel supports two ways to connect:

MethodHow it worksWhen to use
OAuth (Recommended)Click "Connect with Meta/Facebook", log in, grant permissions — done. AIChatVault receives a secure access token automatically.Always the easiest and most reliable method.
Manual tokenEnter your Page Access Token and Page ID directly. Requires you to generate a long-lived token yourself in Meta's Graph API explorer.Advanced setups, agency or developer workflows where OAuth is not practical.
ℹ️
Meta requires apps to be in Live mode (not Development mode) for users outside your developer team to interact with the agent. If your app is in Development mode, only you and users you add as App Testers in Meta's app dashboard can send messages.

Monitoring and stats

Each channel page has a Stats tab with:

  • Messages received — total count of inbound messages.
  • AI replies sent — count of messages the agent replied to.
  • Reply rate — percentage of messages that received a reply.
  • Last message — timestamp of the most recent inbound message.
  • 14-day bar chart — daily message volume for the past two weeks.
  • Message log — paginated history of message/reply pairs with timestamps.
